So far, as I know it, nobody is born with leadership skills, and no one is a true leader in nature, even though we often hear such compliments to an admirable leader. A leader is made by others, because no leader and his leadership could be self-assumed, but accepted by others who are willing to follow him, sharing his vision and hardship and committing to the common endeavor. With what kind of special qualities could a common man become outstanding then a leader among other people? We may say honesty, empathy, mental agility, ambition, vision, decisiveness, drive, hardworking, people skills, etc. Among all those leadership qualities, I think the vision of time and space are the most important. In somehow, foresight makes leaders. Since very few people have this unique ability, foresight is the most admirable leadership quality, with which, one can become persuasive, decisive, agile, goal-oriented, etc. Foresight is often the difference between success and failure in businesses, political competitions and many other human beings’ activities. And people are forever following the right direction to pursue success. Many difficult parts of managements, such as change management and stakeholder management, need the vision, long-eyesight and foresight of a manager. Most leadership%% qualities can be developed, through trilling and education, including self-trilling and self-education, and through life experiences. But, further from that, one’s foresight must go through self-inspiration and self-cultivation. Concerning about these, I see it’s really difficult for majority people to truly and wholly know oneself, know self-enlightenment and to deliberately cultivate oneself. In another words, mediocre one must go through fire and water, ups and downs, refining and refined, to become a leader. Once mastering it, one has it; one becomes outstanding, then a leader.
