Since my mom found I like to read different kinds of words, even the words on the instructions of refrigerator, she decided to send me to the writing class. As she said, I need some way to express what I read. And then I found I am not the best in the class, because my classmates in the writing class won so many awards in different competition, but I never did that I am too shy to publish.
After I went to middle school, my talent started to shine. I was the one whose writings always chosen to read in front the class as a good example. I fell happy and a sense of achievement. I was tittle as a girl with good writing. But the sad way is, every time in the test of writing in Chinese class, I could not write as good as usual.

As times goes by, writing became a part of my major in the university. My major was journalist, and I liked to use the mean and logical words to criticize the society and things that I felt angry. It was a way to release the adolescent hormone, and it was also a way to make me feel I can change something. I never wrote in poem, even though I fell in love and love to read them. But the anger as a potential journalist judging everything was greater than the joy of writing prose and poems.
After I graduated, writing skills helped me to find a job. In a job fair, the recruiter asked me to write a piece of essay about the happy emotion of attending the job fair. How can it be happy? I tried so hard to pretend the happy girl and wrote an 800-word essay. After he read that, he said he knew it could not be an enjoyable experience to be there, but that was the writing skills they needed. The skills could influence audience with words, even the writer were in a bad mood, he or she still needed to write positively and powerfully. When I got the first job as a journalist in a TV station, writing was a good support for my program. And I love the moment my program was on the TV and people loved it.

After that I went to Beijing and finally became a copy writer. It was interesting because I can use my writing talent to earn money. It was not interesting because sometimes I needed to write a slogan in hundreds ways with different rules like “no more than eight words to express four meanings”. But that was the attractiveness about the job. I needed to suffer on the way to the aha moment, but when I got there, I would obtain the great sense of success.
Now I came to Canada, it is really hard to write in English, but I thanked to my Instructor, Isabella, in creative writing class. It is she helping me to break the fear about writing and go exploring myself. I surprise by myself when I write so many different short stories. That was things I even did not try in Chinese. Every time when I sink into the writing status, I can feel there is something inside leading me to get some places. I am curious about it and feel free to explore it. It is a kind of therapy and self-exploration. I am so happy to see my achievement. Every time when I write, I learn more and achieve more. I love the feeling and will keep doing that.
