Now you turn on the TV,a super star is plucking her guitar strings on the show,playing a piece of passionate song,the crowd is fired up,,and you are deeply affected by the music as well, wondering how exactly the iconic contraption in her hands is producing such an amazing melody?
The guitar,which is made up of by six stings,the bridge,the neck and the body,produces sound by plucking the strings. The vibration of the srtings creates the stand wave,as the wave oscillating back and force,translating through the neck and the bridge into the body,where the thick and flexible wood vibrates,jostling the surrounding air molecules together and thus creates sound waves,which eventually slips into your ears and translated into what we called melody and music by our brain.The frequency of the vibrating strings determines the pitch of the sound.The distribution of the strings,namely,the density,and the thickness affects the frequency of the vibrating .Thicker strings vibrates more slowly thus producing lower notes,while the thinner strings vibrates faster and creats higher notes.
Except for the thickness and the density,the shape and the material of a guitar also affect the sound of the vibration.
The show is still on,but clearly,there's alot more to strings than to your ears.
