Singular: Since you are talking about a noun in particular and in the sentence, e.g., “...an employee’s promotion opportunities. " the indefinite article is used before the noun, so I have changed the word ''opportunities" to ''opportunity" in your writing. e.g., "...an employee’s promotion opportunity. " Agreement - Kindly note that, in simple present tense, if the subject is the third person singular, the verb form should be 'verb+ 's' or 'es' whereas if the subject is in any other form we don't add 's' or 'es' with the verb, e.g., "...real politics which deal with power..."
When I look into the corporate culture in modern society, I find that office politics support a Chinese saying: “Personality make differences between success and failure.” Besides skills, personality plays a major role in office ladder climbing, an employee’s promotion opportunity. Scared or deterred, many new office employees hesitate to participate in office politics. They think it is too complicated to deal with. Actually, it isn’t as real politics that deal with power, balances, policies, resources and distributions. “Office politics” is a metaphor. It is mainly the management of personal relationships with colleagues, making you fit into the team, fit into your position. Basically, it involves manners and etiquettes in a long run. It’s not difficult for young people to learn new etiquettes, even from different cultures, when they start going social, and practice them very well; the difficulties for them are to observe those rules longtime and behave themselves always. Some in office become careless, while some others are backstabbers, playing tricks and plots. Certainly, they will fail themselves not long after. Knowing the true meaning of office politics will help us to face it and engage within. As I see it, office politicsissimple and easy. Just engage yourself and behave yourself as you do in a dating or in a party for fun, and remember this is continuing every day. Practice social etiquettes and manners; digest them, integrate them into your personality. Then you will do well in office politics, and in nature.
