今天跟皮卡丘学习一些跟钱相关的俚语，New money 按字面意思是新钱，但是在商务英语口语中千万不要只知道是新钱，在俚语中New money 表示暴发户，新货币。new money是个褒义词，靠自己努力打拼下来的钱。
讲到这里肯定会联想到另外一个短语："old money"在这里不要翻译为旧钱，在俚语中表示贵族的意思，跟new money 相反，通过世袭的方式继承财产，可以理解为现在富二代。
1、Old money
祖传的财富
例句：
He hasn't had a job in years, relying instead on his family's old money.
他很久都没有工作，只是依靠祖上传下来的钱度日。
2、Old hand
老手
例句：
He is an old hand at negotiating in our company.
他是我们公司里谈判的老手了。
3、Old
adj. 结识久的
例句：
John and I are old friends. We’ve known each other for 13 years.
John和我是老朋友了。我们已经认识13年。
4、Former
adj. 以前的；旧识的
例句：
I'll have a party with my former classmates in college next week. But I don’t know what I should wear then.
下周我要和大学的老同学们有个聚会。但我不知道到时要穿什么去。
5、The former
前者
例句：
Of the two options, I choose the former.
两个选项我选前者。
6、The latter
后者
例句：
This point is explained more fully in the latter part of the chapter.
