From the picture, a rich man, with luxurious cars and villas, is complaining about feeling no sense of achievement when asked the question: what is success?
In my observation, two main reasons have caused a growing number of people feeling lack of success. First, it’s generally easier to achieve a certain goal in modern times. We’re also living in the era of globalization when more opportunities are within our reach, so we basically make fewer efforts on the way to success, especially when it is our routine work. Second, a great number of people nowadays regard success tantamount to appearance or wealth. Thanks to the economic growth, Chinese people have seen measurable changes in their livelihood, from insufficiency to moderate prosperity. However, we get caught up in an endless round of competitions instead, which might discourage us.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. It's obvious that the real legacies of our lives aren’t titles, weibo followers or a sexy face. Do things that you love and find real happiness. Success is a butterfly, which, when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.
