歌名Song for Ireland，却是由英国民谣歌手Phil Colclough (1940年—) 和妻子 June Colclough (1941—2004年)合写的一首歌，灵感来自于两人的爱尔兰丁格尔半岛（Dingle Peninsula）之旅，歌词中也提到丁格尔海滩“Stood on Dingle beach”。此歌被无数歌手尤其是爱尔兰歌手翻唱，被誉为“当代经典”。其中最有名的当属著名爱尔兰民谣女歌手Mary Black演绎的版本，爽朗清亮的钢琴声将Mary的声音衬托得分外悠扬。歌词前三段描述爱尔兰的美景和浓厚的人情味，第四段突然拓开，简洁诗意的两句，把视野转向爱尔兰和英格兰两国间的创痛历史，与前几段歌词形成强烈对比，一唱三叹，情感真挚，意境高远，让人感慨这才是“国家颂歌”该有的样子。
