Today I listened to a Ted talk called " 3 ways to measure your adaptability — and how to improve it", delivered by Natalie Fratto. The speaker introduced her theme of adaptability by analyzing what makes a good founder. Adaptability implies how well a person reacts to the inevitability of change. We live in an era of rapid development. New modes of production and consumption, new modes of life and thinking are constantly emerging. If we cannot adapt to change, we will be left behind.
Then, Natalie shared with us three tricks that she used on founders — asking "what if" questions, actively unlearning and prioritizing exploration over exploitation. These three tricks are not only a way to assess how adaptable a founder is, but also a way to exercise our own adaptability.
We should exercise our thiking about future, forcing ourselves assume future problems and find solutions. Most importantly, we should not be satisfied with what we have achieved. We should be curious about what we do not know and have passion to explore it. Keeping humble and keeping learning new knowledge, we are all able to adapt to the development of society.
