This article Exercise Wins introduces the tremendous benefits of being a lifelong exerciser, including slowing down the aging process, maintaining the fitness of heart, lung, muscle and helping people look 30 years younger. After reading it I feel quite ashamed because I do not have the good habit of doing exercise regularly. My only exercise is playing badminton with my daughter, walk at night and ride bicycles to school the whole year round. From today, I decide to work out at least three times a week, at least 15 minutes each time.

Today I read two pieces of news. One is about two lucky twin girls’ meeting with the British Ambassador to China. I also read a relevant story a week ago and learned more information about this event. The two girls are quite lovely and their mother is really responsible and tries her best to realize the dream of her daughters. A lot of people,including me, share the same comment: We should have a big dream. With our own continuous actions, efforts, with other people’s support and help, and with incredible luck, our dreams might also come true.
The other one is about the moving love story between two ordinary couple in China. I haven’t got the time to watch the documentary. Just reading the words and appreciating the pictures made me touched. I think we can also record our daily lives with words, with pictures,or with paintings, and in the future we can look back on the past life.

Today’s reading material is quite insightful and meaningful to me as a mother, as a teacher. The following sentence is widely applicable:
“Positive reinforcement is reinforcing a positive behavior with a positive response, which makes the behavior more likely to happen in the future,” says Lauren Mosback, a behavioral specialist.“That can look like anything from verbal praise and encouragement to offering a tangible reward.”
We can apply it to improve our own life, study and work, we can make full use of it to foster good habits of our children, and we can also utilize it to help students to cultivate good learning habits and routines.

Today I read two pieces of news, one of which is about a survey on the time use of Chinese in 2018, the other of which is about the death of a renowned French composer of musicals.
The first news introduces that how the Chinese spend their time in the previous year. The data, regarding the relevancy between the time of reading and different income groups, ignited a heated discussion on the social media Weibo. It also sparked my own interest.In 2018, I read many books, including fiction and non-fiction and I was proud that I wrote book review and comments after reading each book.
The second news is entitled“Oscar-crowned French composer Michel Legrand dies at 86”. Several years ago I watched the movie "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg", the score of which is composed by Michel Legrand. It’s a very wonderful movie, and the music is indeed terrific so it has left a deep impression on me.

I share the same opinion with the author of today’s article. No matter what we do, there are always people who disagree with us, because people have different preferences. So what we should do is to think clearly about what we really want, aspire, and like and then carry it on without paying too much attention to people’s criticism, scorn,misunderstanding and objection.

The news I have just read is entitled: China: Accusations against Huawei against free, fair competition. This whole news is citing an op-ed by Liu Xiaoming, Chinese ambassador to Britain. It has clearly pointed that Huawei poses no threat to any country’s security, abides by the laws, regulations and rules of the countries where it operates. After reading the news, I learned a lot more about how some countries see Huawei and how China responds to these accusations.

Today's article is about parkour, a thrilling sport. I have never tried this extreme sport, and I don't think i will try it my life because it’s really demanding and dangerous form me. But Ihave seen videos about people doing parkour on TV or the Internet. We all know that some young people love it. After reading the article, I find that it's also beneficial for older people. Through the practice and training, they will learn how to land and fall better, which can sometimes save them from injury or even death.

I have read several Chinese reviews on
the documentary Ren Jian Shi 人间世, which focuses on the real life in hospitals. Both the first and second season have garnered high review ratings on Douban, Chinese film-reviewing website. I haven’t watched the documentary myself, but whenever I read relevant reviews and stories about the patients who suffer from tumors and other dangerous situations, especially those children with bone cancer, I couldn’t help shedding tears. Life is rather cruel for these people. We, ordinary people,healthy people, are really, really lucky so we should cherish our life and live happily. Everything except death is trivial in the world.

How does it make you feel to think that you are“born into debt”?
From my standpoint, the concept that all of us are “born into debt does not make a lot of sense. We were born into this world by our parents without our permission. Our parents raise us, devote an incredible amount of time, money, energy and attention to our growth. They do it out of love for us, out of responsibility. When we are older and we have family and child, we would do the same thing. This is the human nature and instinct.But, we should be grateful to our parents, to the teachers, to the whole society. What we should do is to live a good life and if possible, contribute to the family, neighborhood, community and country or even the world.

Festival Survival Guide is rather interesting, which vividly reflects younger people’s fear of being interrogated during the Spring Festival. There are many issues in the news: privacy of students;language use; cultural differences; career opportunities; international students …The news reminded me of the name-ripping incident happening in another famous US university (Columbia University). As more and more Chinese students enter American universities, they want to win the respect from American people and they have the courage to fight against the racial discrimination and strive for more rights and freedom.

Today I have read two items of news. One is about China-US trade talks. As an ordinary Chinese citizen, we sincerely hope the two countries benefit from cooperation and talks while competing with each other. Then both will see the economy booming.
The other is on the U.S. polar vortex. At least 21 Americans have died in the cold air. It’s really sad to hear of these tragedies. The whole society and country should do more to help homeless and displaced people and people should help each other and above all, raise the safety awareness and try every means to protect themselves.
