Sometimes when we look back, it’s heart-taking; another time, heartbroken. Media are not just means or tools; media are our life-styles. Look at what I have right now in my room: Two iPhones, two android phones, one iPod, one laptop computer, one desktop and many other electronic gadgets. Where are Radio and television? Discarded! Newspapers and magazines? Quit! Books? Mostly packed. Even my desktop and laptop are getting old fashioned and struggling to stay in my apartment. Every day, I focus on my iphone7 screen reading news and blogs, watching video messages and movies, also for Wechat, Facebook, iTunes music, eBooks, etc. Often, a tap on a link gets me somehow lost in another world. "Ohm, my gosh! Time’s up, but I still have a half of my daily work to do; I have to stay late tonight, too." This is my modern life: Seduced, hooked into, distracted, and going astray... As a nostalgic man, I often recall the old days when I was growing up. In non-digital eras, we were easy to be satisfied by old style media: shared magazines and newspapers in school, a family album storing our unforgettable good times, few dozens of classics of ever popular story books and reference books, treasured hand-writing letters from our loved ones and friends, etc. How to keep my heart in my own chest? How to lead a peaceful easy unrushed life nowadays? I am still learning.
