I always wonder how much we can do for others. As a result of my work in the dental (牙科的) clinic connected to our school, I understand the power of s___1___ people. I have learned how much a person working in the medical profession (职业) can do for them.
When I volunteered in Mexico, I met a little girl. I was watching a dental filling with Dr Sussi when I heard her laughter from across the room. I saw a little kid holding a toy and dancing and laughing with my friend Kevin. But her skin looked very p___2___. While I was looking at her, Dr Sussi said “Do you know her story?”
I s___3___ my head.
“The girl got 80 percent burns on her body when she was 3 years old. Her house was on f___4___. She was found to have third-degree burns and immediately sent to hospital. L___5___, she was saved but her skin was …”
I was shocked that she had gone t___6___ so much. I walked closer and realized that all her body was covered with scars. Her fingers and hair were mostly gone. To be h___7___, I was a little afraid to look at her. Her eyes were so innocent (无辜的) t___8___ she made me feel that she was a healthy girl. She probably didn’t realize that she was different from others.
Dr Sussi told me later that her mom took her to the clinic to play with v___9___ every weekend. It is probably the only place that she can be t___10___ the same as other kids. Perhaps the only thing we can do is to play with her or give her a hug. She might not remember the time she spent with us in the clinic when she grows up. Yet, I hope the feeling of being loved by strangers can stay with her.
