Good morning folks! I have continued reading the same novel since yesterday. I've gone through several chapters since yesterday. The book is one of those that once you pick up, it's hard to put it down.
Now the girl in the story was very successful. She has finished four books before she even graduated from her undergraduate school at Boston College. And she was working on her fifth book.
I was totally intrigued to read the part that the major publisher in New York that bought the books and then published decided to meet her in person because they wanted to know "the guy" who wrote all these stories.
Before that, Alex and her agent Rose had been marketing her books under a pseudo name Alexander Green, a fictitious male author who lives in Ireland during the year and came back to Montana during summertime. They did this because Alex believes that the readers, mostly male would not accept that the murder mystery books she wrote were from a young girl.
And now the publisher wanted to know the author in person because they wanted to make a big investment on the author for his new books. There is no negotiation about this condition before they would accept any of her new novels.
So Alex and Rose decided to have the publisher signing a confidentiality contract to protect her identity. And they finally had a meeting together. There were the company president the CEO and CFO and the officially assigned editor from that publisher all in the meeting. They were so shocked to learn that all these books were written by a 22-year-old girl.
The meeting was so intense at the beginning and then they all came around and loved the idea of a girl so young and so talented who could write. It was good that Rose prepared champagne and other alcoholic drinks in the office so that they could get over with the initial shock of knowing the truth of the talented author Alex. By the time they finish the meeting it was late in the evening and almost nobody in the meeting was sober.
The publishing company soon signed a huge contract of $2 million for her next two new books. And by that time she has graduated from college and decided to go to Europe to spend a few months exploring the world. How exciting!
Since money was not an issue for her anymore, she traveled to many different countries in Europe, and then finally settled in London and found a temporary job in a publishing company and working as an intern for an editor.
She also had a boyfriend. I cannot describe the details of their physical relationship because it may result in my article being banned from here. The readers have to read it for themselves.
By the way, I'm using the Dragon naturally speaking software again today. It worked perfectly for me. It's kinda fun to do it this way. But it might not be fun for my readers to read because I might have talked more than necessary.
Cheers!
