背过多少单词，学过多少语法，但开口一说还是 Chinglish 。为什么学了英语这么多年，还是稀里糊涂？为什么过了四六级，英语还是结结巴巴？为什么这么辛苦钻研，还是词不达意？Luffy老师通过几个例子，让你摆脱中式英语。
在汉语表达中，为了达到表意准确、生动且具有韵律感的效果，我们通常会对某个名词修饰以另一个名词（名词活用），进行适度的包装。如：加快xx的脚步，xx水平逐步提高，随着xx声的响起。
然而，由于英语词性简明，且添加修饰性名词会导致同时添加介词、冠词（in, of, for, the等等），所以这类修饰性名词通常应当省去。如以下例子：
1. 为了加快经济改革脚步
误：to accelerate the pace of economic reform
正：to accelerate economic reform
评：虽说“加快脚步”在汉语中是很形象生动的表达，而仅写成“加快经济改革”显得意犹未尽，但在英语中，这样的表达不仅没有丰富意思，而且还多出了三个单词，显得多余了许多。
2. 农业收成非常好
误：there have been good harvests in agriculture
正：there have been good harvests
评：虽然harvests 一般仅直译为“收成”，但其实harvests 即指农业收成。汉语中“农业”对“收成”其实更多起到的是修饰性而非限定性，而且让该词语更加朗朗上口，符合汉语书面语习惯，但当翻译为英语时却是多余了。
3. 城乡居民生活水平持续提高
误：living standards for the peoplein both urban and rural areascontinued to rise
正：living standards in both urban and rural areas continued to rise
评：在汉语中，将修饰“生活水平”的形容词写为“城乡居民”而非“城乡”的好处是，这句话就成为了三个四字短语的组合，读来悦耳。但事实上，living standards 即指人的生活水平，多添加的“居民”不仅由于需要搭配介词和冠词导致不顺口，而且不具有实质意义。
4. 这些困难本质上是暂时性的
误：these hardships are temporary in nature
正：these hardships are temporary
评：任何形容词均在一定程度上描述了某事物的本质。虽然在汉语讲话中，为了强调其属性是本质的，但在英文中，除非某物有其他属性需要并列阐述，否则便默认为在形容本质，因此诸如 in nature 和 in character 这种词在英文中便不常见了。
看了以上例子我们会发现，许多名词修饰在汉语中或许是个好点子，但在英文中，会付出冗余的代价，且达不到很好的表达效果，所以在翻译的过程中，大家千万要小心！！下面我们再举出一些经典的例子，希望大家阅读后能有收获，谢谢大家！
