Then in the fifth grade Shelly Stalls came into the picture, Shelly Stalls is ninny（傻子/笨蛋）. A whiny（爱发恼骚的）, gossipy（多嘴的）,backstabbing（陷害） ninny who says one thing to one person and opposite to another（当面一套，背后一套）. Now that we're in junior high（初中）,she's the undisputed（当之无愧的） diva（主角） of drama（戏剧，剧本）,but even back in elementary school （初级中学） she knew how to put on（开始） a performance（表演）. Especially when it came to P.E. I nerver once saw her run laps（一圈） or do calisthenics（柔软体操）. Instead, she would go into her "delicate（微妙的）" act, claiming her body would absolutely collapse（崩溃） from the strain（拉伤） if she ran or jumped or stretched（拉伸）.
It worked. Every year. She'd bring in some note and be sure to（务必; 必定） swoon（昏厥，昏倒） a little for the teacher the first few days of the year, after which she'd be excused from （准许...离开）anything that required muscles（肌肉）. She never even put up her own chair at the end of the day. The only muscles she exercised（锻炼） regularly（有规律的） were the ones around her mouth, and those she worked out nonstop（不停地锻炼）. If there was an Olympic contest（比赛，竞赛） for talking, Shelly Stalls would sweep（全胜） the event. Well,she'd at least win the gold and silver---one medal（勋章，奖牌） for each side of her mouth.
What bugged（恶心的） me about it was not the fact that she got out of（逃避） P.E.（体育课）---who'd want her on their team, anyway? What bugged me about it was that anyone who bothered to（费心） look would know that it wasn't asthma（气喘） or weak ankles（脚踝受伤） or her being "delicate" that was stopping her. It was her hair. She had mountains of it,twisted（扭转，歪曲） this way or that, cliped（用夹子夹着） or beaded（用珠子装饰）,braided（编成辫子） or swirled（旋转）. Her ponytails（马尾辫） rivaled（媲美） the ones on carousel horses（旋转木马）. And on the days she let it all hang down（垂下来）,she'd sort of shimmy（摇动） and cuddle（拥抱，怀抱） inside it like it was blanket（毛毯，毯子）,so that practically（几乎，事实） all you saw of her face was her nose. Good luck playing four-square（方正的） with a blanket over your head.

但让我觉得恶心的不是她逃避体育课，而是那些想跟她一个队的人，费尽心机地想看看她，他们知道她脚不疼，也没有气喘等等。他们仅仅是因为山妮有一头飘逸的头发，她时不时做成波浪卷，时不时用夹子夹着，时不时编成辫子用珠子装饰着，这些都深深地吸引着她的追随者们。有时候，她会披散着头发，像个毯子一样在头上，基本上只能看见一个鼻子。在脑袋上裹着一床毯子玩抛球游戏?还是算了吧。
