虽然yep、yup等词与yes的字面解释相同，但是使用yep、yup更加俏皮一些，适用于网络、通常会话中使用。而且多用于同辈人，朋友之间。请勿用于长辈，老师，因为yep、yup多少有点随意，不太尊重。事实上，在美国中部，西部地区、加拿大、澳大利亚、新西兰口语中yep、yup常用于回答人家的感谢或表示肯定、赞成等；yep也是西方人回应Thank you的方式之一，而且流行程度远远超过You are welcome. 常见于餐厅，网络等非正式场合。正式场合中，yep一般不能替代You are welcome.请不要过分依赖字典的字面意思，西方人不会用yep， yup代替yes。
