Therefore, we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him. ---2Corinthians5:9

Setting the ambition, it means that we must be the effort and put the biggest wish first. It equals that from the first to the end of the year, we must hold on to the highest ideals. The ideal is not to obtain the man’s souls passionately, or to establish churches or to hold revivals, but keep on an enthusiasm for the “the joy of the Lord.” Our failure is not due to lack of the spiritual experience, but we don’t strive to hold the ideal goal. At least once a week, we should check in front of God to see if our life is living up to His standards. Paul was like a musician. He didn’t care whether his audience admired him, so long as he obtains God’s favor, he was satisfied.

Any ambition deviating slightly from the goal of “the joy of the Lord” will make us outcasts. Learn to distinguish the direction of our hearts, and we will understand why we want to live our life to Jesus Christ. “…but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I will not be disqualified.” ---1Corinthians9:27

I have to learn to connect everything I do to this primary purpose and keep it constant. How much value I have in public depends on who I am in private. My highest desire is to please God’s joy, or it is for a goal that seems noble enough to be second best?

Dear God, for the scriptures of this morning, I thank you. “So you return unto the Lord, keep benevolence and justice; often wait for your God”. May your glorious presence fill the great camp to stop sins and inspire godliness.
