So the Wallow pulled out the Prince's eye, and flew away to the young man's window.It was easy enough to get in,because there was a hole in the roof.He flew in through the hole,and came into the room.The young man was holding his head in his hands,so he did not hear the sound of the bird's wings.When he looked up he found the beautiful sapphire lying on the desk beside him.
燕子抠出王子的眼睛，飞往年轻男子的窗口。由于房顶上有一个小洞，所以燕子很轻松就进去了。他通过小洞飞了进去，然后来到了年轻男子的房间。年轻男子的头枕在手臂上，因此他没有听到鸟儿翅膀发出的声音。当他醒来的时候，他看到了身旁桌子上放着的蓝宝石。
"I must have fallen sleep,"the young man said."Perhaps somebody liked my work,and brought this to help support me.Now I can finish my play."The young man was so happy.
"我一定是睡着了，"年轻男子说。“也许有人喜欢我的作品，并且送来了这个来支持我。现在我可以完成我的作品了。”年轻男子是如此的高兴。
The next day the Swallow flew down to the harbor.He sat high up on a large ship and watched men move heavy things out of it with ropes."I am going to Egypt!"said the Swallow,but nobody noticed him.
When the moon rose he flew back to the Happy Prince."I am coming to say goodbye to you,"he told the Prince."Now I will leave for Egypt."
第二天燕子飞到了码头。他站在一艘大船顶部，看着人们用绳索从船舱中往外运送沉重的物品。“我将要前往埃及。”燕子说道。但是没有人注意到他。
当月亮升起的时候，他飞回到了王子身边。“我是来和你道别的，”他告诉王子，“现在我将要离开前往埃及了。”
"Swallow,Swallow,little Swallow,"said the Prince,"will you please stay with me for one more night?"
"I have friends waiting for me in Egypt,"answered the Swallow."It is winter here now,and soon it will become very cold and start to snow.In Egypt the sun is warm and the trees are green,and my friends will all be expecting me to meet them there soon.Dear Prince,I must leave you,but I will never forget you.Next spring,I will bring you back two beautiful jewels,to replace those you have given away.The ruby will be redder than a rose,and the sapphire will be as blue as the sea."
"燕子，燕子，小燕子，"王子说，“你能够再多陪我一晚吗？”
“我的朋友们在埃及等着我，”燕子回到。“如今这儿已经是冬天了，很快这里将变得非常冷并且开始下雪。在埃及，阳光是温暖的，树木都是绿色的，我的朋友们也希望我尽快到那里与他们会合。亲爱的王子，我必须要离开你了，但是我永远也不会忘记你。明年春天，我将带给你两颗漂亮的珍珠，去代替你馈赠出去的两颗宝石。红宝石将像玫瑰一样红，蓝宝石将像大海一样蓝。”
"In the city square blow,"said the Happy Prince,"there is a little girl selling mathces.She has dropped her matches in the street,and they have gotten wet and she cannot sell them.Her father will beat her if she does not bring home some money,and she is crying.She has no shoes or socks,and she does not have a hat to keep her head warm.Pull out my other eye,and give it to her,and her father will not beat her."
“在城市广场下面，”王子说，“有一个卖火柴的小女孩。她把火柴丢在了街上，所有的火柴都湿掉了，她不能卖掉火柴。如果她没有钱带回家，她的爸爸就会打她，她此刻正在哭泣。她没有鞋袜，也没有帽子来保暖。把我的另一颗眼睛抠出，送给她，她的爸爸就不会再打她。”
"I will stay with you one night longer,"said the Swallow,"but I cannot take your other eye.You would be completely blind then."
"Swallow,Swallow,little Swallow,"said the Prince,"do as I tell you."
"我将再陪你一个晚上，"燕子说，“但是我不能拿走你的另一只眼睛。否则你将完全失明。”
“燕子，燕子，小燕子，”王子说，“按照我告诉的你做。”
