Academic dishonesty occurs in many forms: Students cheat in the exams in the elementary schools and high schools, and even in the universities. College students, scholars, and even professors copy or use the works or thoughts of another person to be his or her original work. Academic dishonesty also happens in students enrollment, teachers appointment, and equipment purchases.

Academic dishonesty erodes our society and our spiritual infrastructural construction. This problem is more serious than economic corruption because spiritual construction, especially in the universities, academies and institutes, is more ever lasting than economic construction.

During the sessions of the NPC and CPPCC(两会)， more and more attention has been paid to this serious problem. For the very first time, “punishing academic dishonesty” is written into the government work report of NPC and CPPCC.

My point of view about academic dishonesty is that it should be controlled or avoided in terms of two levels: morally 道德上的and legally法律上的. Morally, every member of our society should condemn those who want to cheat. And those who have cheated must be condemned and punished. Legally, more laws should be made and passed to punish those who have cheated.

Only in this way, can we create an ideal and honest academic society. Those who do honest work will benefit from their sweats and sacrifices.
