The increasing use of technology in the workplace makes it easier for young people to get jobs and harder for old people. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

At present, it is apparent that individuals are being affected by the widespread use of technology in the workplace. I don’t approve of the view that the young people are more likely to find jobs than the old people in the age of technology. On the contrary, I strongly incline to the standpoint that it has become increasingly difficult for both the young and the old to seek out job opportunities.

To begin with, the increasing technological breakthroughs in the workplace may lead to compulsory redundancies in more institutions and organizations. For example, Automated Teller Machines take the place of bank tellers and automated kiosks act as various ticket agents. Labor-displacing technology has tremendous influence on the employment of the young clerks and the old ones as well.

Furthermore, there’s no doubt that the massive use of technology has the transformative impact on the modern workplace. Since employers worldwide continue to hunt for any practical way to decrease the cost of production and at the same time increase their actual profits, robots, known as steel-collar workers, are widely employed in all walks of life to accomplish tasks done by humans before, which is especially true in modern assembly lines of automobile industry and electronic production.

As a consequence, workers of all ages are being unemployed. Young workers may be energetic; however, robots can work around the clock, never knowing what tiredness is. Old workers may be experienced; nevertheless, robots can complete mammoth tasks more efficiently as they are designed and built to perform them with higher efficiency and accuracy. As soon as the industries prefer to utilize robots instead of hiring human workers, the unemployment rate will increase dramatically.

All in all, in today's highly technological world, it is equally difficult for the young and the old to obtain indispensable or irreplaceable jobs.
