以前不太懂美国人的幽默，所以不太爱看《摩登家庭》这个剧。后来遇到有趣的男朋友，就渐渐对这种风格的笑点找到感觉啦。还一起看过。只是没有字幕的情况下，有时候细节和笑点只能错过。仔细学习后，发现有些词语我常用的，他们都用另外的词，听起来挺高级或者是更到位的词语。比如我说：马上进房间可能用“enter immediately”,人家来个动词“pop into”就完事了。普通的上午：a normal day，Claire 就会用uneventful，生动又有趣。暗示她家熊孩子没闹腾啥事。两个女儿，Haley漂亮，Alex聪明，所以Alex承认笑话Haley智商不行，人家用take shots at your intelligence. 我立马联想到这简直就是我男人常干的事，他经常是独自乐，我都还不知道乐啥。一有机会就试你智商，不就是挖苦吗？这比laugh at友好多了。毕竟Alex和他都只是有意无意显示自己聪明，而非为了伤害和嫌弃。所以多种表达方法，就更能表达接近自己本身想要说的意思。再比如，Mitchell叔叔是个同性恋，他用词就爱夸张，当老姐Clair要他干件事不乐意，他委屈来一句：“first, you berate me on the phone.” berate 这个词表示强烈地责备，做出人神共愤的时候用这词最好，这才多大点事，可他偏不用blame，仿佛每件事情都很戏剧性展开似的。
喜欢抠细节的就能多了解一些知识呢。艺术类： 比如艺术老师戏称Alex除唇毛的过程为blue period。只因她唇上涂满蓝色的脱毛膏吗？其实是一语双关，blue period原本是指毕加索的一段阴郁时期，常用蓝色，蓝绿色为基调作画。刚好也暗指Alex在除毛时的郁闷表情。
还比如Clair自言自语道：“Just gonna pop into the family room.” the family room 在中国房子的定义下就是客厅。我们大多数人住的是公寓，而美国人很多是住在别墅里，Clair家即有the family room, 又有the living room. 所以两种房间还是有区别的，大家搜wiki维基百科专门解释什么是the family room

wiki一开头就申明不要搞混了，family room专指家里人长待着一起玩的房间，既接通厨房（厨房一般是开放式的）又通向后院，所以这个房间必会有个后门出了就是院子。我曾经居住的寄宿家庭，他们家的客厅除了圣诞夜拆礼物用用，平时各种活动都弄在family room里。所以是不一样的概念呢。
更有意思的是当Manny描述他母亲的手机被偷，首先用了swipe，这是口语中steal的意思，相当于我们说扒手扒了手机的“扒”，表明不知不觉，行动迅速。想想我们经常有swipe这个词是在刷卡的时候，那一刷还是够快的，就不难理解swipe的意思。在日常生活中，美国人非常喜欢用体育中的术语来形容。Manny说这人得手：“He stuck the one second...” Stuck 的原形动词是strike，在体育里得分除了score外，就是用strike.
音乐类：继父Jay为了能让Manny摆脱怕车的心理障碍，感叹一句："Jesus, take the wheel!" 这是让Manny自己开车，刚好也是美国偶像冠军Carrie的首发单曲名字，这首流畅的乡村音乐曲。大意是在最无助的时候祷告让上帝来掌控自己的方向盘，而非沉浸在个人的生活方式中，非常好听。其实Jay非常贴心暗示Manny勇敢些。作为基督徒，我在这首信仰的歌里想到见证过的经历和事情，非常非常的喜欢。除了在无助的时候要祈求主，更是要时常祷告。
