Read Action Research by Ernest T. Stringer to figure out how to introduce the concept of action research (AR). AR intends to fill the gap of generalized results from conventional research and it invites participants in the decision process of making things better- to improve the well being of all participants (Stringer, 2014).
Action research therefore is based on the proposition that generalized solutions, plans, orprograms may not fit all contexts or groups to whom they are applied and that the purposeof inquiry is to find an appropriate solution for the particular dynamics at work in a localsituation.
The primary purpose of action research is to provide the means for people to engage insystematic inquiry and investigation to design an appropriate way of accomplishing adesired goal and to evaluate its effectiveness (Stringer, 2014).
Before you do action research, you need to first identify a problem/issue from the local context and then make a plan, evaluate and make adjustments, new plan, evaluate... It is a cycle.

My own action research is concerning my students who are learning Chinese in an Ameican Public Unversity. The problem we are facing is limited contact with the Chinese language after class since we study Chinese in a foreign language environment. The purpose of the action research is to find out how to increase students' engagement with Chinese after class.
I kept changing the purpose because for real I am not sure what I have been doing.

Write significance and purpose, as well as action research.
Before anything, I need to organize the beginning of the proposal, the purpose, and significance. Provide some background information about the influence of technology in language learning and teaching. I am searching what I have written around the subject matter from my past assignments so I do not have to rewrite the whole thing.
I have been working on this piece for about the whole day and I do have some other priorities such as reading and reading reflections for a practicum class on extensive reading. I have already completed the faculty interview for another class on Monday. I should switch to the reading for now and come back later to this assignment as I have not yet arranged my screenshots. I need to show clearly the timeline for the previous research and have things ready before 2 pm on Monday.
In addition, I have made appointments with another professor to go through my paper, or rather my ideas. It all depends on how my advisor will respond tomorrow though. If she insists that I should study writing, then I will have to graduate this Summer for sure. Otherwise, I will shot for Spring and squeeze my time on the master paper. It will be my absolute priority.
