Use the article "an" if the next word begins with a vowel sound and use"a" if the next word begins with a consonant sound. For example, "an (NOT a) uploaded unauthenticated message." Be careful with your singular and plural nouns. If you are talking about more than one of something you need to use a plural noun. For example, "It’s easy to understand that libel and slander are crimes (NOT crime)."
While watching Americans fight to protect their constitutional rights of owning firearms, we, though just a small group of Chinese citizens, are also fighting for our own constitutional rights--speaking freely. It’s easy to understand that libel and slander are crimes; nevertheless, uploading untrue messages online in China may also be a criminal offense. Even worse, in 2013, the People’s Supreme Court issued a judicial interpretation to Clause 1st, Article 246 of The China’s Criminal Laws, stating that if an uploaded unauthenticated message is clicked on more than 5000 times or is forwarded 500 times, its tweeter will commit the crime. The Interpretation has not only terrified and deterred millions of online goers, but also has raised doubts and challenges among all social levels. Many people are crying out their objections online, feeling sorry for their infringed civil rights. Although only few people so far have been convicted of this type of crime, we are working hard to appeal to the People's Congress for reforming or even abolishing this notorious part of criminal laws.
