But I do not count my life of any value to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good news of God's grace. —Acts 20:24
It is easy to serve God without vision; and it is easy to serve God without being called, because you don’t care what God asks of you. With the mental knowledge and the emotional guidance of believers, you will be very successful. As long as you never experience God’s call, your mood can be leisurely complacent. However, once you receive Jesus’s mission, God drives you all day long. Then you can no longer work for him on the basis of mental knowledge.
What do I value most in my life? If I am not caught by the Lord, I will value the serving God as my treasure. I will value time set aside by God and my life.
Paul said that he thought that life was precious because he could fulfill the mission entrusted to him by God. He refused to expend his energy on anything. As the above scripture, Paul felt almost an extreme annoyance at being told to worry about his own safety. He never cared about anything but fulfilling the mission given by God.
Sometimes, the actual work takes people away from God, because the actual work is based on “remember you’re here for more.” Or “think about how difficult it is for you to do a particular job.” This attitude does not use the Lord Jesus as a guide, but our own judgement to determine where we are most useful. Do not consider whether you are useful, but remember that you don’t belong to yourself, but to the Lord.
Dear God, by your grace, let me see you and your endless love, and let me know your will to me about your ministry. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
