Hey there, it’s Eddie Resmayne here, although you may know me as a wizard called Newt Scamander in the Fantacy Beast films.

哈喽~我是埃迪·雷德梅恩，可能你们都认识我吧。我在《神奇生物》系列电影中，扮演纽特·斯卡曼德。

And like many of you guys, I was first introduced to Newt while reading one of my favourite books of all time--Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling.

跟你们很多人一样，我第一次知道纽特这个角色，也是通过阅读我最喜爱的图书——J.K.罗琳所著的《哈利波特与魔法石》。

Now in celebration of its 20th anniversary in the US, I’d like to read you my favourite passage from this truly enchanting and incredibly magical book.

恰逢第一部哈利波特美国发行20周年之际，我想从这本引人入胜且充满奇妙魔力的书中，挑选一段我最爱的章节，为大家现场朗读。

A breeze ruffled the next hedges of Privet Drive which lay silent and tidy under the inky sky, the very last place you would expect astonishing things to happen.

微风轻抚着女贞路两旁整洁的树篱，街道在漆黑的夜空下，寂静无声，一尘不染，谁也不会想到，这里会发生如此骇人听闻的事情。

Harry Potter rolled over inside his blankets without waking up. One small hand closed on the letter beside him and he slept on, not knowing he was special, not knowing he was famous, not knowing he would be woken in a few hours’ time by Mrs. Dursley’s scream as she opened the front door to put out the milk bottles, nor that he would spend the next few weeks being prodded and pinched by his cousin Dudley...

哈利波特在毛毯里翻了个身，但他并没有醒。他的一只小手正好放在那封信旁边，他还在继续沉睡，完全不知道自己原来这样特殊，也不知道自己原来这么有名，他还不知道，再过几个小时，等德思礼太太开门放奶瓶时，他会被她刺耳的尖叫声吵醒，更不会知道，在未来几个星期，他表哥达力会对他连捅带戳，连掐带拧...

He couldn’t know that at this very moment, people meeting in secret all over the country were holding up their glasses and saying in hushed voices:”to Harry Potter-the boy who lived!” I really want to keep reading that would be here all day.

他也不可能知道，就在此时此刻，全国的巫师，都在秘密聚会，大家高举酒杯，悄声说道：“祝福哈利波特—那个大难不死的男孩。”虽然我也很想继续读下去，但咱们就整天都得耗这儿啦。
