Hi Dear,
Thank you for sending this email, I can open the link but can’t turn on the live music, what a pity! I can see the description and the concert schedule, that’s all! So that’s why most of the Chinese people are not familiar with Rock music, it’s too rebellious, obviously not favored by the authority. its called 伍德斯托克音乐节,and I read the background about it on 百度。
1969 is a very interesting year. and it’s the peak time of Cultural revolution, young people were mostly sent to the countryside to reform their mind, including my uncles and aunts at the age about 16-18. From West to East ,both are in the revolutionary time, but went to the opposite ways
A French guy I know who was just 20 years old in 1969, was a university student, took only 200 US dollar from his father, in that summer vacation with his two other friends, came to US, they tried to go through some places in US and one of the goal was to attend the music festival. During the month, they experienced a lot, they had hitchhike most of the time, met some funny guys on the way, one was a veteran who was drinking when driving and with a gun, he threatened that he could kill them all, another time, an old man who invited him for a sex party, but told him its only for two of them, when he rejected, the old man dumped him on the road, when he and his friend were walking on the highway ,they encountered some police, and were sent to the jail for a few days, locked with some horrible criminals together, as they had no money pay for penalty, at last the French consulate saved them, and another time when he lived in a motel, a young black boy suggested to give him a blow job… Finally they arrived the music festival, had great time, drank, smoke marihuana, had sexes with crazy American girls, these young French boys , young and handsome, speaking the French style English, were very attractive to the American girls.
He wrote all in his diary and a few years ago he tried to wrote them all in a book about the trip and he sent me some part of the draft in French, I had to Google translated them in poor English, and unfortunately I lost the draft in my old computer, I don’t know if he got it published, haven’t contacted him for a few years after that.
Just as you said: what a time to have been alive.
Wish you have a good day and enjoy the music, if it’s possible, keep some nice songs for me, I hope we can enjoy them someday together.
By the way, I know that book Catch 22, 第22条军规 I know the Chinese translation. Don’t forget my major in university was western literature, thanks for reminding me of that interesting book.
Have a Nice trip to AZ...have a great time!
