A phoenix once hovered at the Phoenix Tower.
Long gone the phoenix,lonely flows the river.
Beneath the quiet path, flowers and grasses bury
The Wu palace, and Chin's noble family.
Half of the triple-peak mountains extend towards
blue sky; two rivers cut the island like a sword.
As clouds block the sun, evil officials prevent
me from going to Chang-an. How deep is my lament!
