You can’t do it overnight

And to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. ---2Peter1:7

For most people, the meaning of love is ambiguous; People talk about love, but they don’t know what love is. Love is a person’s appreciation to another people beyond everything else. Spiritually, Jesus asks us to choose him above all else. When the holy spirit pours God’s love into our hearts, Jesus Christ comes first. From then on, we can love out the virtues Peter enumerates here.

First of all, God will tear down my disguise and my apparent godliness. The holy spirit shows that God loves me not because I am lovable, but because of his loving nature. He said to me: “ well, now you have to love others with the same love.” “As I have loved you, so must you love one another.” “I will surround you with many whom you do not see. You must love them with my love, just as I love you.” Love cannot be affected. Many people try to do this, but soon get tired of it.

“The Lord endured…” let me look at myself, and how he treats me. God loves me so much that he doesn’t pursue all my SINS, all my meanness, all my selfishness, all my wickedness. So, I can live on earth and love others with the love of God. As God’s love for me is inexhaustible, so must love for others. If I get angry, my progress in grace will stop. I am angry because I will be with an eccentric person. But think how I embarrassed God by being with Him! Are we willing to be one with the Lord Jesus Christ and let his life and warmth come out every moment? Both human love and divine love need to be nurtured in order to survive. Love is natural, but practice to hold it.

Dear God, influence every aspect of our lives with your liveliness, kindness, and goodness, so that it may reflect the glory of your face, which seems to be all I pray.
