昨天上午突然得知NBA因有球员新冠病毒停摆了，下午FIBA也是（唉，希望快快好起来吧）当时刚好看见了老詹的推文——“还是应该重启2020才对嘛”

逛来逛去，觉得写写他做的公益活动挺好的，于是今天跟大家聊聊老詹在自己家乡美国俄亥俄州阿克伦创建的一所公益学校—— I Promise School，这所学校主要面向的是阿克伦当地教育条件受限或者部分有危险倾向的孩子，为他们提供免费的教育。
All of the LeBron James Family Foundation’s work is rolled into the I PROMISE School, an Akron Public School dedicated to those students who are already falling behind and in danger of falling through the cracks. Recognizing the life-changing importance of education, The LeBron James Family Foundation invests its time, resources and attention in the kids of James’ hometown in Akron, Ohio.

“Any chance I get, you’ll hear me say it loud and proud: I’m just a kid from Akron. And I say that because of the roots, the support, and the love my city has always given me. From my earliest days growing up in those streets, the community wrapped its arms around me. My mom and I had our challenges, but the people I was lucky to have around me would not let me fail. I want to do everything I can to be that for my kids in Akron coming up behind me who have incredible futures ahead of them.”

Through its I PROMISE Program, the foundation serves more than 1,400 Akron-area students by providing them with the programs, support and mentors they need for success in school and beyond. In 2015, James partnered with The University of Akron to guarantee four-year college scholarships to all eligible students who graduate from high school and complete the criteria in the classroom and in the community. In 2018, all of the Foundation’s interventions and research-based incentives – along with its “We Are Family” philosophy – have been implemented in the new Akron public school, the I PROMISE School, dedicated to giving Akron’s most challenged students and their families the resources and wraparound supports needed on the path to a better future.

The school implements specialized programming - from a longer school day, to its STEM curriculum with a “We Are Family” philosophy - tailored to these students that creates a culture conducive to social-emotional learning. IPS also provides wraparound supports that educate the whole person – with a focus on both academics and character building.

Additionally, there is an intentional effort to engage the entire family with an on-campus Family Resource Center and regular events requiring parent participation in order to create a supportive environment both in the classroom and at home.

The I Promise School's mission is to positively affect the lives of children and young adults through education and co-curricular educational initiatives. We believe that an education and living an active, healthy lifestyle is pivotal to the development of children and young adults.
对于在失业率、文盲率极高的阿克伦，这样的机会是十分难得的，同时学校和基金会还会帮助这些家庭中待业或者失业的家长寻找或者提供工作，孩子们要做好的就是在学校好好学习，孩子们需要遵守校训“student promises”
