OK, I announce that I will write a novel in a month, this month!

April FOOL!!! Don't forget what day today is. I can say whatever I want without taking any consequence here today.

But in truth, I don't have the guts to do it now, I meant writing a novel. What's stopping me? Myself! This sounds terrible. I just think that I'm not ready yet. To start writing a novel, I have to decide whether I should write in English or Chinese. Not because I'm OK with either one, but because I don't think I'm good enough with neither of them!

So far, the only thing that I'm doing to make a positive impact on my writing is, I'm writing every day. One small article at a time. And I found that there have been gradually more readers reading my poor writings. That's progress. Like Chris Bosh, now an NBA legend said if you keep doing the right things consistently, good thing will happen.

I signed up on Jianshu about 5 years ago but had just written some articles briefly at the time and then stopped until recently. What I didn's stop was continuously writing in my journals in English every day. This had helped me improved my English writing skills tremendously. Daily writing has become much easier for me now.

Sooner or later, I have to face my biggest fear and excitement: start writing a novel. I can't avoid this since I have the overwhelming urge to do it, not for money nor personal fame, just for the pleasure of enjoying the process.

Have you heard of the "Nanowrimo"? It stands for National Novel Writing Month. There is even a website for this non-profit organization. In the month of November every year, participants would join the movement by signing up and write a 50,000 words novel in a month. That's 1,667 words a day for 30 days.

There are a lot of resources on the website that would help the writers to achieve their goals. Last year, it was reported 400,000 people joined the movement, among them, 95,000 were k - 12 students. Pretty amazing, isn't it? And it seems that this is a good starting point for me, too.
