春花秋月何时能

南唐李煜的《虞美人》英汉对照

【原文】

春花秋月何时了？往事知多少。小楼昨夜又东风，故国不堪回首月明中。雕栏玉砌应犹在，只是朱颜改。问君能有几多愁？恰似一江春水向东流。

【英译】

When will the endless cycle of the spring flowers and the autumn moon come to an end? I still remember so many past events. The east wind visited again my small house last night. I could not bear to look back to my native land in the clear moonlight. Carved railings and jade bricks should still be in place. But the color of my red house must have changed. If you ask how much sadness and worry I have， I will say it’s like the spring torrent of river water flowing eastward without tarrying.
