part 1
My child arrived just the other day;
He came to the world in the usual way,
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay,
He learned to walk while I was away.
And he was talking before I knew it,
And as he grew he'd say :
"I'm going to be like you ,dad,
You know I 'm going to be like you."
孩子出生的日子我不记得，
像往常一样，我很忙。
我忙着出差、工作、赚钱养家。
他什么时候学会走路我不知道。
他什么时候学会说话我不知道。
只记得孩子常说，
长大后我也要像爸爸一样。

My son turned ten just the other day.
He sad,"Thanks for the ball,dad,come on,let's play.
Can you teach me to throw?"
I said ,"Not today, I've got a lot to do."
He said ,"That's OK."
And he walked away, but his smile never dimmed;
He said I'm going to like him,yeah.
You know I'm going to like him.(chorus)
儿子转眼十岁了。
他说“谢谢老爸买给我的球，”
你能和我一起玩吗？
我说，"不行啊，宝贝，我很忙。"
他说，"好吧。"
走开，淡淡苦笑。
他说，他长大后也会像爸爸一样。

Well he came from college just the other day,
So much like a man, just I had to say,
"Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head and said with a smile,
"What I really like , dad, is to borrow the car keys.
See you later, can I have them please?" (chorus)
儿子的毕业典礼仿佛是在昨天，
儿子高大挺拨，长大啦。
我不得不说，
儿子，我真替你骄傲，咱们可以坐下聊会吗？
他笑着摇摇头说，
"对不起，老爸，我没时间。其实我是来向你借车子的。"
"谢谢你，老爸，回见。"
Part4
I've long since retired, my son's moved away.
I called him up just the other day.
I said,"I'd like to see you if you don't mind."
He said "I'd love to,dad, if I can find the time.
You see my new job's a worry and the kids have the flu,
But it's sure nice talking to you,dad.
It's sure been nice talking to you."
And as I hung up the phone , it occurred to me,
He'd grown up just like me.
My boy was just like me.
我退休好久了，儿子早已搬走。
那天我打电话给他
我问“你什么时候能回来啊?”
儿子答“我也想啊，但是我很忙。”
"工作一团糟，孩子们又感冒了。
但是能和你聊天真的很好啊"
放下电话，我突然明白，
他长大了，像我年轻时的样子。
他学了我的做法啊！
