我们来学习0分20秒的这一句
The federal budget is out of control.

这里的the读的是[ði], 大家知道the后边的单词如果是元音音素打头, 则the需要读作[ði], 但其实如果想要表示强调, 即使后边不是元音音素打头, 也可以把the读作[ði]. 因为[i]听着更强.

有的童鞋会把the听成了be, 如果抛开语境的话, 我完全无法单靠耳朵分辨到底是the还是be, 这里就是一个很好的例子「听力不能只靠耳朵」.

8 And we face runaway deficits of almost 80 billion dollars for this budget year that ends September 30th.

9 That deficit is larger than the entire federal budget in 1957.

10 And so is the almost 80 billion dollars we will pay in interest this year on the national debt.

11 Twenty years ago, in 1960, our federal government payroll was less than 13 billion dollars.

12 Today it is 75 billion.

13 During these 20 years, our population has only increased by 23.3%.
