敕勒歌 （南北朝，作者不祥）

        敕勒川，阴山下。天似穹庐，笼盖四野。天苍苍，野茫茫。风吹草低见牛羊。

【译文】

      辽阔的敕勒大平原，就在阴山脚下。敕勒川的天空啊，看起来好像圆顶帐篷。它的四面与大地相连，蔚蓝的天空辽阔深远，碧绿的原野广阔无垠。阵风吹来草儿频频点头弯腰，成群的牛羊时隐时现。

【注释】

1.敕勒（chì lè）：种族名，北齐时居住在朔州（今山西省北部）一带。

2.敕勒川：川：平川、平原，敕勒族居住的地方，在现在的山西、内蒙一带。

3.阴山：在今内蒙古自治区北部。

4.穹庐（qióng lú）：用毡布搭成的帐篷，即蒙古包。

5.笼盖四野（yǎ）：笼盖，笼罩；四野；草原的四面八方。

6.苍苍：青色。天苍苍：天空蔚蓝。

7.茫茫：辽阔无边的样子。

见（xiàn）：同“现”，显露。

【英译】

Chilechuan Plain is located at the foot of the Yinshan Mountains. The sky looks like a yurt,which hangs over the vast prairies. The heavens are sapphire blue, and the steppe stretches wide. When the wind blows over the grass,flocks and herds appear now and then.
