冬夜已深，

混杂着工人与司机的酒吧内，人群喧嚷，

炉火旁，透过间隙瞥见一幕 -

我悄无声息静坐于角落;

一个爱我且我所爱的年青人，

默默走近，

落坐于我身边，好与我以手相握;

长夜漫漫，在这来来往往的喧嚣中 –

在喧嚣的酒饮、诅咒和粗俗的笑谈里，

我俩就在那儿，满足而愉快的在一起，

说话很少，

也许静默不语。

oath and smutty jest,

There we two, content, happy in being together, speaking little,

perhaps not a word.

沃尔特·惠特曼（Walt Whitman，1819年5月31日－1892年3月26日），出生于纽约州长岛，美国著名诗人、人文主义者，创造了诗歌的自由体（Free Verse），其代表作品是诗集《草叶集》。
