Most local residents in Hangzhou have the habit of burning incense and ringing bells at Lingyin Temple on the first day of the New Year. It is said that on the eve of the New Year, some people will queue up all night, just in order to be the first one to ring the bell which has gone through thousands of years.
I'm a lazy person who can't get up early or stay up late, so we're going to burn incense on the first day of the New Year.
（杭州人年初一都有去灵隐寺烧头香、敲钟的习惯，据说年三十晚上就有人去通宵排队，就为了可以排上第一个去敲那口历经千年的古钟。我这种把慵懒贯彻地如此彻底的人当然是折腾不起啦，所以我们准备在年初一的时候去上香。）
There are several reasons choosing this day to take a walk around the West Lake. The main purpose is that we wanna to look forward a good luck, and furthermore, only the first two days during the New Year Festival vocation is sunny. My parents and I invited some friends, and we arranged to meet up in the Tianzhu bus station.
（选择初一来有两个原因，一来是盼个好彩头，初一登高祈福听着就喜庆，二来也是因为只有初一初二两天是晴好天气。我们一家三口约上了三五好友，几个人定在上天竺这里集合。）
Today's Route : Shangtianzhu - Xiatianzhu - Lingyin Temple - Beishan Road

Regardless of whether believe in Buddhism or not, many visitors will go to the Lingyin Temple for a walk when they're traveling in Hangzhou. It is just as they'll go to the "Remnant Snow on the Broken Bridge in Winter", "Liefen Pagoda in Sunset", "Enjoying tea at dragon well" and other scenic spots by all means.
While the native residents prefer to the Tianzhu Road, where there're three monasteries, including "Shangtianzhu, Zhongtianzhu and Xiatianzhu". Few tourists know that Lingyin Temple is a part of Xiatianzhu with the most exuberant incense.
（很多来杭州旅行的游客，都是奔着灵隐去的，就像他们去西湖就一定去断桥、雷峰塔、龙井之类的景点一样。但是我们杭州本地人更多的会选择去天竺路，上头有上天竺、中天竺和下天竺三座寺庙，而灵隐寺只是下天竺里名气最大香火最旺盛的那座庙宇。）
Among them, Xiatianzhu was the earliest to be established with a history of more than 1,660 years. These three temples, even the last one, own the history of thousands of years. Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty named them with Faxi Monastery, Fajing Monastery and Fajing Nunnery and he even autographed the stele personally.
（其中下天竺创建最早，距今已有一千六百六十多年的历史，而创建最晚的上天竺也有上千年的历史。清高宗乾隆命名上、中、下三竺为「法喜寺」、「法净寺」、「法镜寺」，连匾额都是他亲笔御题的。）
