A Ball to Roll Around
I lost my sight when I was four years old by falling off a box car in a freight yard in Atlantic City and landing on my head. Now I am thirty-two. I can vaguely remember the brightness of sunshine and what color red is. It would be wonderful to see again, but a calamity can do strange things to people. It occurred to me the other day that I might not have come to love life as I do if I hadn't been blind.
I lost my sight when I was four years old by falling off a box car in a freight yard in Atlantic City and landing on my head.
by falling off someplace。
a box car in a freight yard in Atlantic City,注意它的中文是“在大西洋城一个货场的货车”,顺序完全跟英文相反。 两个短语:货车 a box car; 货场 a fright yard.
后面landing on my head跟前面的falling off ...
Now I am thirty-two.
I can vaguely remember the brightness of sunshine and what color red is.
I can vaguely remember the first day I went to school.
what color red it是指remember(记得)的东西,所以它是个名词,意思是指“红色是什么颜色”这个事情。 大家应该知道其原句应该是“What color is red?”,你把这个疑问语序变成一个陈述语序,就是“what color red is”,就成了一个名词。比如“What is your name?”变成陈述语序“what your name is”,就变成了一个名词。
It would be wonderful to see again, but a calamity can do strange things to people.
It would be wonderful to do sth.
It occurred to me the other day that I might not have come to love life as I do if I hadn't been blind.
It occurred to me that + 句子,表示“我突然想起某事”,“某件事情、想法突然出现在我的脑子里”。
the other day,就相当于one day,某一天,有一天。
come to do sth,这里是指“达到(某种程度)”;come to love life,开始爱上生活。
as I do:as, 连词,就像……;I do 是一个省略句,表示I love life,因为前面有一个love life,所以这里直接用do指代。 as I do表示“像我现在这样热爱生活”,might not have come to love life as I do,一字字翻译过来就是“不会开始爱上生活,就像我现在这样爱生活”,即“不会像我现在这样热爱生活”。
后面的,might have done sth if I had done sth,虚拟语气,不讲;因为讲了你也是晕的。
I lost my sight when I was four years old by falling off a box car in a freight yard in Atlantic City and landing on my head. Now I am thirty-two. I can vaguely remember the brightness of sunshine and what color red is. It would be wonderful to see again, but a calamity can do strange things to people. It occurred to me the other day that I might not have come to love life as I do if I hadn't been blind.
请大家用“It occurred to me that + 句子”造句留言。
