今天的最后一章阅读得有点慢，潜意识里总有种淡淡的不舍。很难得作为 “迷弟” 的林语堂先生还能保持如此客观冷静的笔调，缓而有序的写着苏东坡先生的最后生命时光，虽未能回归故里眉山，但所幸终能离开蛮荒之岛海南，一路北归，逝于常州。
或许正如林语堂先生所言，读苏东坡的生平，一路追寻着他的伟大思想和性灵的人生足迹，且行且悟，以至死生不惧，顺乎自然，万物之法也。
诗人已逝，唯有寄情于诗词文字间，寻找苏轼的那一份性灵与旷达。下午还读了几篇叶嘉莹女士对苏词的解析，每每可见其定见与旷达之情。我以为林语堂先生的这篇东坡传记里，虽已尽可能全面的概述其一生经历，命运转折，但唯独还少了些诗词的引用与解读，那些尤能体现苏东坡对人生体悟的超旷，通古今而观之的才学的诗篇诗词。

in retrospect, 表示“回首往事，回想起来”，thinking back to a time in the past, especially with the advantage of knowing more now than you did then；

lot，在这里作为名词，表示 “际遇，境况，命运”；Your lot is the kind of life you have or the things that you have or experience.
例句：Young people are usually less contented with their lot.
His illness dragged on after his arrival at Changchow.
drag on, 动词短语，表示 “不必要地拖延，拖得过久”，常用于表达一种否定不满的意思，[disapproving] to continue for longer than you want or think is necessary；句子里表达一种久病缠身的厌烦之感；
例句：The meeting dragged on until almost midnight.
There was no use meddling with different kinds of medicine.
meddle，不及物动词，表示 “干涉，干预（他人事务）”， to deliberately try to influence or change a situation that does not concern you, or that you do not understand；可与 interfere 替换使用；常用搭配为：meddle in, 有时候也可搭配 meddle with；
需要注意的是，表示 “干涉” 时的名词是 meddling，不可数，而 meddler 则是表示 “多管闲事的人”，复数是 meddlers；
例句：He accused the US of meddling in China’s internal affairs.
例句：Don’t meddle with my stuff.
例句：She thought she was being helpful, but her neighbors saw her as a meddler.
