读书笔记——《The Little Prince》Chapter

读书笔记——《The Little Prince》Chapter 5

Chapter 5

听过读过第五章之后，对于这一章到底讲了些什么，你有答案了么？

在我看来，简而言之，这一章就是讲了：baobab——猴面包树。这····这是什么玩意儿？又怎么读呢？

"It was in this way that I heard, on the third day, about the catastrophe of the baobabs."

African tree having an exceedingly thick trunk and fruit that resembles a gourd and has an edible pulp called monkey bread

参考译文：这是一种非洲的植物，有着坚硬的树干和果实，果实有点像葫芦。果肉可以食用，被称为：猴面包树

catastrophe 【n】catastrophe这个单词不好读，注意重音，多读几遍。

下面给的解释太有意思啦！

e.g.If a wedding reception is disrupted by a fistfight between the bride and her new mother-in-law, you could call the occasion a catastrophe.

参考译文：如果婆婆和媳妇儿在婚礼的现场大打出手，那应该被称为灾难吧！

这句话我在泛读的时候，并没有看懂，原因是我不知道“grave”这个词的其他意思，我一直在想“坟墓、坟墓、坟墓······”到底怎么解释！！！！！
