这是一篇城市规划类别的双边讨论观点型题目。题目的要点是对比高层建筑和矮层住宅。高层住宅我马上能想到的好处是占地少、成本低、解决住房需求人数多；问题是停水、停电、火灾、爆炸等意外事件处理不太得力。低层建筑的好处是可以比较有个性化、比较接地气、可以前庭后院打造宜居环境以及前述意外事件几率小；不足是成本高、解决住房需求人数少。我的立场是大都市垂直建设；小城镇水平发展。升级城市间交通设施促进大中小城市双向良性互动。
三、正文
1、引言段
A forest of steel and cement is a vivid term to denote the place we city dwellers are residing nowadays. Some people consider this is a necessary evil while others strongly advocate this way of living. In addition, still others prefer to live in the motropolis where there are few high rises and most of the apartment buildings are just three to five stories and very close to the Mother Earth. In the following essay, I’d like to examine both views and propose my own position.（本段我从钢筋水泥的森林的比喻引出话题，自我感觉十分巧妙、新颖，应该能够吸引考官的眼球。）

Despite the negative effects of poor reaction to the water cut, power failure, fire accident or explosive incident due to the high floors of the skyscrapers and lack of personality, tall buildings have the advantages of housing more businesses or lodgers hence lower the cost of construction and dampen the issue of overpopulation in the modern city groups. On the contrary, the housing price of the super large motropolis would be too much for common people to afford and more city residents would end up having no roof over their head. （本段先抑后扬讨论了高楼的优势。之后又从反面论证使段落的思想更丰满和充实，同时也解决了字数不足的问题。）

In contrast, a “horizontal” city appears more laidback, secured, healthy and unique. Living in a low height apartment or even independent houses or villas in the hustle and bustle city center is just like living in the serene peach garden as carefree recluse, hermit or immortals (这里有几个词不太确定，一稿完成后我查阅了有道确认了这几个词的拼写加深了这几个词的记忆和印象。产出倒逼输入而且是一种积极和高效的学习这一点确实不假。）A low rise building could also better reduce the risks of fire or explosion accidents，etc. in comparison with tall buildings. What’s more, with a court and yard before or behind the house the owner of the house could have more space to display their gardening feats and get more outdoor workout therefore it would be more beneficial to their physical and mental well-being. Last but not least, low-story buildings are more conducive to showing off its individual temperament and charistiristic in terms of design and construction compared with skyscrapers so add a bright landscape to the city horizon. （本段我着重讨论水平城市的优势。）
4、结尾段
In conclusion, neither “vertical” nor “horizontal” cities are perfect, so I propose that we build “vertical” ones in the large metropolis but “horizontal” counterparts in the medium or small cities. At the same time, we make efforts to update the infrastructure like building better motorways or high speed railway lines inter cities so that people could move more conveniently and comfortably around and opt for a lifestyle that best match their taste. （结尾部分我言简意赅总结正反双方立场并提出自己的意见最后圆满结束全文。）
