My Views on the Rehabilitation of Sinology

In recent years，it’s a revelation to see that more and more people are fascinated by Sinology. In order to write a fair hand, some have begun to learn traditional cursive, Gothic scripts and so on. Others are fond of a stringed musical instrument or Qi, a strategic board game. Sinology now has legions of fans ranging from the young to the old.
Sinology contains a highly developed aesthetic sensibility. Take Chinese Calligraphy for example. In order to write Chinese characters in all forms, besides a dexterous hand, one must be constantly aware of the concentration of the ink, the correct usage of the basic strokes, the flexibility of the paint brush, as well as the thickness of the paper and its absorptive capacity.
It is of vital significance for the public to acquire the historical knowledge contained in Sinology. For one thing, with its history of more than 5,000 years, it is an important part of Chinese cultural heritage that needs to be preserved for future generations. For another, it is also an important way for individuals learning the various forms of art to enrich their lives and improve their physical and spiritual well-being. Finally, as more and more people from other countries become interested in Sinology, its rehabilitation has become a significant criterion for measuring modern China’s growing vitality and importance in the international community. （228 words）
