读韩鹏杰中文和许渊冲英文《道德经》笔记（28）

原文：将欲取天下而为之，吾见其不得已。天下神器，不可为也。为者败之，执者失之。故物或行或随，或歔或吹，或强或羸，或挫或隳。是以圣人去甚，去奢，去泰。

翻译：If anyone tries to take the world by force

and interfere with it,

I do not think he can succeed.

The world is a sacred realm

not to be interfered in.

Anyone who interferes in it will fail,

and who tries to keep it will lost it.

For things may lead or follow,

blow high or low,

be strong or weak,

loaded or unloaded.

So the sage will not go to excess,

to extravagance and to extreme.
