绝圣弃智，民利百倍；绝仁弃义，民复孝慈；绝巧弃利，盗贼无有；此三者以为文不足，故令有所属。见素抱朴，少私寡欲，
不充当圣贤，不表现智慧，百姓则获利百倍；不注重仁慈，不讲究忠义，民众则恢复孝敬；不倡导取巧；不追求暴利，盗贼则无利可图。这三项，单纯用文告不够，而是要用法律规定。要表现朴素和简单，要减少私情和欲望，要放弃学问和求知，就会无忧无虑。
Do not try to be a sage and wisdom, folk may get multi time profit; do not focus on benevolence and loyalty, folk are restored to filial piety and full of love; do not pursuit of cleverness and profit, there will not be reasons for thefts. These three items are not enough to be written, but should be stipulated in legal form. You will be carefree of anxieties if you can be simple and plain, reduce personal feelings and desires, and give up learning.
