“He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever.” Psalms111:5
From the scripture, I learn that he who fear the Lord will lack nothing. Since ancient times, God never let his children empty, whatever in the wilderness, in prison, in famine and so on, God gives people fearing him the regular bread. So, we have no doubt that God will provide us food every day. As for the higher and greater blessings, God never ceases to supply his grace so long as our circumstances require it.
When I read the scriptures of the new testament, Jesus also teaches us for several times that “Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” As the Christians, we must first seek the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to us. Don’t seek for something including food, drink and clothing like Gentiles. Father in heaven early knows our needs. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew6:34”
As the above scripture mentions, “God provides food for those who fear him…”. We must understand that the fear of God is God’s demand of his elect. Maybe we often think the question what God wants from us. Moses gives us a simple and clear summary in the scriptures of Deuteronomy 10:12 of the Old testament. “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord you God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.” The Lord will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him, and HE will hear their cry and save them. As the scripture of Psalms111:10 says: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.”
We must fear the Lord. In this way, He not only can keep us from evil, but also keep us from temptation. “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and Lead me in the way everlasting!” -Psalms139:23-24
