如何用英语做“自我介绍”

第一集——Part 1：Introducing yourself to a group

你将会遇到很多需要介绍自己的场合，比如当你参加一个研讨会，当你参加研究生复试的面试，当你刚进入实验室，当你参加一个学术会议，当你参加一个活动，当你找工作参加一个面试，等等。

Waiting for your turn to introduce yourself has five ingredients that increase apprehension for many people.
当你在等待做自我介绍的时候，你通常会经历以下5个状态，这会增加你的焦虑。

1 Formality 礼节 | 你开始关注你的礼节是否合适
2 Anticipation 预感 | 你开始担心下一个是不是轮到你了
3 The escape factor 逃避 | 你有想要逃避的心理
4 Time pressure 时间压力 | 来自时间的压力
5 Conspicuousness 惹人注目 | 你害怕引起别人的注意 害怕别人知道你的紧张

如果你也有上面说到的五点焦虑，那么下面的建议会对你有帮助。

Firstly, Remember that it's common to feel nervous when speaking. Others know how you feel because they feel nervous too.
第一，你要知道，当人们在公众场合讲话的时候，感到紧张是正常的。你不必害怕，因为别人也会紧张。

Secondly, Plan a sequence for introducing yourself.
第二，当你介绍自己的时候，你需要有一定的顺序。

-a) Say your name slowly and clearly using the name you wish to be called. (I'm ____________, most people call me ____________)
介绍自己的时候，要慢而清楚地告诉别人你叫什么名字，告诉别人你希望被叫做什么名字。比如，外国人大部分名字都很长，有First Name(名), Middle Name(中间名), and Last Name(姓)，而很多人的First Name也很长，不太容易让人记住，所以，通常在做自我介绍的时候，他们会介绍自己的名字叫什么什么，但通常人们都叫我什么什么。

-b) Say the main thing you want them to know.
讲你最想让别人知道的你的事。比如，你喜欢什么（你的爱好），你擅长什么，等等。

-c) Conclude. (Thank you. I am looking forward to...)
最后，总结一下。

Thirdly, Take a few deep breaths, and stay calm while waiting to speak.
第三，在等待做自我介绍的时候深呼吸，并且保持镇定。

Fourthly, Smile and use a relaxed posture. (Introductions should convey approachability, not rigidity)
第四，微笑，并保持一种放松的姿态。（自我介绍应该传达一种亲和力，而不是显得刻板而难以接近）

Fifthly, Make eye contact with people during each phase of your introduction. That is important.
第五，保持眼神交流，这真的很重要！

Finally, End confidently.
最后，保持自信。

当你做自我介绍的时候，你可以这样说：

1 Sate your name, position, and affiliation.
介绍你的名字、职位以及机构

2 Where are you come from.
介绍你从哪儿来的

3 The main thing you'd like others to know about you.
介绍你最想让别人知道的关于你的事

4 Any other relevant information about yourself.
介绍关于你自己的其他信息

5 Conclude.
做一个总结

我们来举一个例子：
Hello, everyone. I am Daisy(name), I am an international visiting student(position) at University of Toronto(affiliation). I come from China(from), and I have been in Canada for about 7 months. I am a PhD student(main thing), and I like to play Guitar(other relevant information). Thank you. I am looking forward to making friends here(Conclude).
