Last week ,I talk about knowing yourself by using other people’s experience. Today, I will continue to talk about this topic by using my own personal experience. Are you interested in it?
From last speech, we all know that knowing yourself is very important, in fact, we have the same Chinese proverb that it is important to know one's own limitation. It is difficult to acknowledge your shortcomings, so do I.
This month, I didn’t run for any official of QDTMC in the next half year, because through being the official of QDTMC, I found I was not interested in practicing leadership. But many years ago ,I didn’t think so, because I have a great aunt who was a talented leader, she only had primary school education, but she was the general manager in a big company and leaded hundreds of staff. As the Chinese saying goes, niece resembles her aunt. So I thought I might have the potential talent of leadership before.
But through being the official of QDTMC, I found I was not interested in leadership, and actually,I prefered to do the creative job. So I determined to prepare and complete my ACS and ACG speeches step by step. Above all are my gains from knowing myself.
Next ,I will talk about my experience of being official one by one.Firstly, in the beginning of this year, I ran for VPPR, and succeeded, then, I spent my spare time on designing and making posters every week, for completing the task of outing as VPPR in my term, I organized the 6th anniversary party of QDTMC. It was very tired to coordinate the relationship among the team members, and by organizing that party, I got a deep and spectacular lesson that I will never organize it any longer!
Secondly, in the middle of this year, I ran for treasurer, and also succeeded, then, I spent my spare time on keeping accounts and making the report of cash journal to all members regularly, because Toastmaster headquarter increased the member fee from Oct. this year, I found the cash of our club became less and less, which worried me a lot, even afterwards, I hated any payment！
Actually, I believe that life should be spent on the nice things, so I rethink when I felt happy in the past. I found I felt happy when playing with my daughter, eating the delicious food cooked by my husband, going to Beijing to see my elder brother, chatting with my good friends , preparing and delivering my speeches one by one, writing something about my life no matter in Chinese or in English, and so on, excluding leading other people or management job .I think if I was assigned some management tasks, I will try my best to complete them. But in my deep heart, I don’t like to do them.
Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom. It is important to know one's own limitation. Although It is difficult to acknowledge your shortcomings,but if you acknowledge them frankly, you will feel very relaxed and relieved. And you will know well what is your favorite and spend your time on it .Life should be spent on the nice things .So please know yourself, please enjoy your life!
