Singing Snowberg

Chapter Six

Olympic <7>

“Rosa I had questions....” “Shh. Listen, with your heart.” I hear the laughters of two people, I’m in the water, the vague voice becomes ever indiscernible in the reason that I’m drowning. The moonlight in the water, looking up, heart-breaking beautiful. My back’s facing the depth, I hate and fear it, but to face it means I can’t see the light.
“Every human once has four arms and four legs, Zeus split them apart, but they always wanted to be complete again.” “I think I’ve found my other half. Once they became one is there a chance to break them again?” “That’s why you’re not believing. Unless, he’s not the right part.” “There’re possibilities. But why so many people have many parts?” “They tore themselves into pieces and give them to different parts. Are you splitting yourself?”
The night is beautiful, but I have to get back to my own room. Lejanía, I’ll remember by heart, but I’m afraid it’s too far away. Will I survive the trip?
The atmosphere of festival is looming everywhere, people are everywhere, taking photos and talking loudly. It seems every room is occupied by visitors, we were told to set tents around the stadium, but they’re not cheap. When the lights are turned off, stars are everywhere in the sky.
I don’t feel good after a whole day of work, I pick a tent and rest.
“You could rest in your room.” “No.” “I’m going.” Few minutes later he reappears, “I couldn’t leave you here.” He picked some foods from the volunteer supply station. “There’re still working.” “About to off, so I got many foods that expire tomorrow.” “Are we staying for the night?” “No. I’ll go.”
He sits at the mouth of the tent for half an hour I guess. I say, “I won’t go.” Again, he drops his food and stares at me with his usual emotionless glare, as if to see through me. I don’t care, I want to see the polar light. Then he leaves the tent.
Lights off, only my tent has a light on. People can’t use wireless even phone calls, I guess these tents will be filled with people from tomorrow. The other light comes from the bus station, I hope he’ll come back from one of those buses. Lights in the tunnel fade again as that bus sailing away like a particle of light in a tentacle of a jellyfish. And 10 minutes later another bus comes, this time the light stays on after the bus went away! Someone’s walking out of the tunnel and into the dome! Yes, I see the glass of that entrance lights up with a circle of ripple and expands across the the dome above my head, which is covering the whole site.
That figure is a woman, when the darkness comes again she’s nowhere to be seen. If she tripped over some of the tents? I start to find the electric torch, it should be somewhere.
“Cyano. It’s me, Rosa.” She washed her hair before coming here. “Hi. I’ve been waiting for you.” She smiles softly, flicking her hair to the back of her ear. There’s a small window on top of the tent, we’re laying on the cover watching the stars. The polar light is faint, the predicted snow is absent. At this moment we’re having a long conversation, about a faraway planet. I just couldn’t remember the name, or our conversation, they were laughters hidden from me, now mocking my forgetfulness. This is a mutated mechanism, helps me to survive.
“Cyano.” Devo comes into the tent with an vacuum flask, “you need hot water.” Thank God I’m saved. “Thanks. Are you cold?” His hair is wet. “I’d better get under cover, I just took shower. How are you feeling?” I could’t tell him how I’m feeling right now.
“How are you feeling? Tell me.” Silence. “We go to the hospital?” I shake my head. We’re close. I still remember what Rosa said about the ancient human body, but I’m not sure I could split myself and give him a piece of me, am I separable? But I... I’m, “feeling cold.” I need a pee.
The restroom isn’t easy to find in the darkness, “maybe it’s this way.” And I run to him but tripped on something hard, one of my hand was bruised with blood dripping down. I’m shocked at how badly I was injured under the flashlight. We found the restroom on the second floor, I knew I’m afraid of nothing in this darkness because of his company. Love is company. Is this love? Should I give it a try?
Back in the tent, I don’t feel the hurting, because we see the polar light, it seems a huge strike on our atmosphere, those blue bands and curtains are growing broader and bigger and brighter.
