无论是翻译还是写作，比较句都是绕不开的一道坎儿，谁比谁多，谁是谁的几倍……在组句的过程中，可能很多译友都没有意识到逻辑问题，也就是“究竟谁和谁比”。
今天这篇文，选的是知新共学1月翻译群一次日常练习里的句子，拆解一下这个逻辑问题。
原句
2013至2016年，在引用率居前1%的数学与计算论文和引用率居前10%的STEM论文中，清华大学发表的论文数量列全球高校之最。
难词解析
“列全球高校之最”，即在所有高校中排第一，比其他高校都更高。
比如从“最多”这个角度入手，可以是：
Tsinghua published the most … among all universities in the world…
Among all universities, Tsinghua is the biggest contributor to …..
从“比其他多”这个角度入手，可以是：
Tsinghua produced more …. than any other university across the globe
还可以从“清华是冠军/首名”等角度入手，可以是：
Tsinghua takes the lead/is the champion/is No.1 in the number of papers that are among the 1 percent most cited
“发表论文”，除了最常用的publish，我们可以转换理解清华大学是这些论文的来源者/拥有者/制造者，可以选用 produce / has / own等。
“论文”，paper, thesis和essay的区别
Essay一般是短文章：a short piece of writing about a particular subject by a student as part of a course of study〔学生为某门课程所写的〕短文，论说文
Thesis更多是学位论文：a long piece of writing about a particular subject that you do as part of an advanced university degree such as an MA or a PhD论文，毕业论文，学位论文
Cynthia’s still working on her thesis. 辛西娅还在写论文。

He wrote his doctoral thesis on contemporary French literature. 他写的博士论文是关于法国当代文学的。
Paper就是一般的研究性论文，此处可用：[C] a piece of writing or a talk on a particular subject by someone who has made a study of it（研究）论文；（学术）讲话
“引用”，citation, quotation的区别
Quotation一般是引用很有趣的话：[C] a sentence or phrase from a book, speech etc which you repeat in a speech or piece of writing because it is interesting or amusing引语，引文，语录
Citation就是泛指引用书上或别人话语：a line taken from a book, speech etc引文，引句，引语
思路解析
这种比较句，很容易犯逻辑错误的毛病。比如：
The pork is much more than any other country. 这样的话，猪肉和国家去对比了。
不对的，应该是猪肉和猪肉对比，the pork is much more than that produced by any other country.这样才可以，that指代Pork。
但如果主语是中国的话，后面可以是其他国家。
类似的错误案例，再举几个：

2013至2016年，在引用率居前1%的数学与计算论文和引用率居前10%的STEM论文中，清华大学发表的论文数量列全球高校之最。
回到原文这个句子也是一样，清华大学和全球高校去比，清华大学发表的论文数量和全球高校发表的论文数量去比。不可混淆。
