今天来看《小谢尔顿》第一季第四集，小狮子依然整理了三个知识点哦～

​​​1. ebb

谢耳朵吃香肠结果卡在嘴里，爸爸帮他倒出来。

ebb表示“衰退；逐渐减少“——

He could feel his strength ebbing (away).

​他能感觉到自己逐渐体力不支。

有个习语是at a low ebb，意思是处于低潮；处于衰退状态。

而ebb and flow形容的是（有规律的）涨落，起伏，比如：

You have to accept the ebb and flow of love in a relationship.

​你得承受恋爱过程中爱情的起起伏伏。

2.feel free to do sth​

如果有人跟你说 feel free to do sth，他们的意思是你想做什么都可以去做。

比如：

Feel free to ask questions if you don't understand.

你要是不懂，可以随便提问。

Feel free to help yourself to coffee.

请随意喝咖啡。

If you have anything on which you want my opinions, feel free to see me.

​如果你们有什么事需要征求我的意见的话，随时来找我。

3.outgrow​

outgrow是个超级实用的词语，它的意思有这两个——

①长得比…大；长得太大（而不再需要）

My seven-year-old got new shoes in April, and he's already outgrown them (= his feet have grown too large for them).

我7岁的儿子4月份刚买了双新鞋，现在已经穿不下了。

②因长大而对…失去兴趣

​He eventually outgrew his adolescent interest in war and guns.

​他少年时期对战争和枪炮的兴趣终于不复存在了。
