名诗我译（泰戈尔篇）——吉檀迦利08

The child who is decked with prince's robes

and who has jewelled chains round his neck

loses all pleasure in his play;

his dress hampers him at every step.

这孩子

被穿上了王子的袍服

颈部挂满珠宝项链

失去了他游戏中

所有的快乐

奢华的服饰羁绊着他的

每一步

In fear that it may be frayed, or stained with dust

he keeps himself from the world,

and is afraid even to move.

生怕衣饰会破损或玷污

他一直回避着

这个世界

甚至不敢

挪移脚步

Mother, it is no gain,

thy bondage of finery,

if it keeps one shut off from the healthful dust of the earth,

if it rob one of the right of entrance to the great fair of common human life.

母亲啊

这华丽的束缚

毫无益处

如果它把一个人

与大地健康的尘土

相隔绝

如果它剥夺了一个人

进入人类普通生活

这盛大集会的

权利
