汽车也正在进入中国人的家庭。虽然一个普通的买车人可能买不起德国的奔驰车，但他完全有能力买一部日本的本田车，或者上海产的桑塔纳。

不好译文：Automobiles are also entering into Chinese families. Althought acommon buyer probably cannot afford to buy a German Benz, he has all the ability to buy a Japanese Honda or a Shanghai-made Sontana.

较好译文：Cars, too, are entering Chinese families. While probably anaverage car-buyer cannot afford a German Benz, he is well in a position topurchase a Janpanese Honda or a Shanghai-made Sontana.

讨论：

1. 汽车的正式叫法是automobile，在这句话的context中，用car比较贴切，普通的家庭用车一般用“car”。

2.注意enter的用法，指进入某一具体场所时，用enter，比如：enter the room；指进入抽象的事物时，用enter into, 比如：enter into business;因此，“进入中国人的家庭”应该是enter Chinese families。

3. “一个普通的买车人”：a common buyer不是错误的译法，不过建议改用"an average car-buyer"。很多时候，普通人指an average person，而不是a common person。

4. “买不起”：cannot afford to buy 可以简化为 cannot afford sth.

5. “他完全有能力……”：he has all the ability to ......很不地道，英语中有：be in a position to ......，加上well/good可以加大程度。

6. “买”：buy 可以改成purchase， 因为purchase一般表示购买比较贵重的东西。
